Feelings for Faith

As people, we tend to worship

Not a God who has created us, but

Instead one whom we have created

Does he care if we drink, gamble, or sin at all?

Does he have so much free time to monitor us?

Is he even a he? How the hell would we know?

If there is a higher force

I’m sure they just want us

To treat every last person

With respect and kindness

If God’s judgment reigns supreme

What’s the point in casting our own?

Heaven or hell, who’s to say there’s either?

Even if there is, I’m sure tormenting one

About their life choices instead of

Focusing on your own secures you

A snug spot in the latter

If you’re so sure

That the divine exists

Leave it up to them

Whether one has “transgressed”

Or not, that’s not your concern

Move on with your life, my friend

And I’ll move on with mine
